ARESTIN

What is periodontal disease?

Periodontal disease is a chronic infection of the gums and bones holding your teeth in place.

If left untreated, the gums and bones holding your teeth in place can be damaged, leading to possible tooth loss Periodontal disease is very common and affects an estimated 50 million people in the United StatesRecent studies suggest a link between periodontal disease and other health complication including diabetes and hear diseaseThe most common treatment-emergent adverse events were headache (9.0%), infection (7.6%), flu syndrome (5.0%), and pain (4.3%). These occurred at a similar rate to SRP and SRP + placebo. ARESTIN™ (minocycline hydrochloride) contains minocycline, tetracycline derivative, and therefore should not be used in children and in pregnant or nursing women. The use of drugs of the tetracycline class during tooth development may cause permanent discoloration of the teeth.

How is periodontal disease treated?

This office uses an effective treatment protocol for this condition that includes ARESTIN.
